Minister of Music
and Pianist
David Hodges is our Minister of Music and Gay
Hodges is our pianist. The Hodges, residents of Jekyll Island, are
retired Southern Baptist missionaries, who ministered nearly thirty years
in Brazil. Both have extensive musical training and experience.
For ten years prior to their overseas service, they served as music and religious
education staff in Baptist churches in Missouri, Florida and Texas. In
Brazil, David taught conducting, voice, and hymnology at three Baptist
seminaries. Gay accompanied voice recitals and
choral presentations as well as taught organ. David has had published
numerous original hymns and Portuguese translations in various publications
in Brazil. For the last eight years of their overseas service, they
administered the language and orientation program for new Baptist
missionaries. Between the two of them, they have three master's
degrees and an unfinished doctorate.
The couple has four grown children, one as near as
Brunswick and one as far away as Recife, Brazil. They also have three
grandsons.
Youth Minister
Justin Bowers is our Youth Minister. Justin is a native of Brantley
County and also works for the Brantley Telephone Company. Justin is married to Beth
and they have three children. Justin ministers to our growing
Youth Group with the help of many dedicated parents and volunteers.
Justin is a huge "Dawg" fan - just ask him how much he loves UGA!
One of the most exciting activities our Youth bring to our
church family are our "Youth-led Sundays". Under Justin's
leadership, the youth take the entire worship service and lead us in worship
through powerful dramas, music and speaking. Please plan on attending
one of these powerful services. They are held a number of times
throughout the year.
Church Secretary
Maxine Morgan is our church secretary.
She is married to H.C. Morgan Jr. one of our deacons and is the proud mother
of four children and nine grandchildren. Please stop by the church
during the week and say hello to Mrs. Maxine!
